| With my companion and some other Sister Missionaries. |
This weekend we went on exchanges with the other Hermanas in our district. I went to the South area with Hermana Flores. We taught a lesson to this lady named M_ _ _ _. We read the introduction to the Book of Mormon with her. After we read the introduction with her, we asked her if she would read the Book of Mormon and pray to know if it's true. She said that she would pray, but that she doesn't want to read the Book of Mormon because her husband and pastor say that since there's so many false doctrines in the world, she shouldn't read things from other churches. After she said that, I asked her if we could read a few verses in the Bible with her. She got really excited and ran and grabbed her Bible. I turned to Matthew 7:15 and explained how Jesus said the same thing: there would be many false doctrines in our day. I then showed her how Jesus said we can recognize false and true prophets (in verse 20): "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."
I showed M_ _ _ _ _ the Book of Mormon again and said that it was the fruit of our church. Then we read Galatians 5:22 with her, about how the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, etc. We promised her that if she tested the fruit of our church - by reading the Book of Mormon - that she will be able to tell if it was from God by receiving these fruits of the spirit. It was such an awesome lesson because it was what she needed to hear, but it was also what I needed as well. It's like that scripture in Doctrine and Covenants that promises when we teach by the spirit that both are edified and uplifted.
We also had a BAPTISM yesterday! His name is (withheld). I'm so happy for him. He's 11 and such a great kid. His mom is less-active in the Church, and we could tell she was really touched during the baptismal service. It meant a lot to both of them.
Next week H_ _ _ _ _ _ is getting baptized! I'm so excited for her because she's SO ready. She's amazing. Everything we teach her she's just like, "Yes, of course that's important, it makes so much sense". And she knows she needs to be baptized because she NEEDS the blessings in her life. She's so wonderful. I'm so happy to see how the gospel is blessing her life.
I love how many miracles I've seen since becoming a missionary. Seriously, I can't even write them all. Even just the little things. Like on days we don't have anyone to have dinner with, someone always asks us if we want to come eat with them. God really does take care of those who serve Him.
Yesterday we were visiting a recent convert family, and their cousin K_ _ _ _ lives with them. My companion told me she doesn't really want anything to do with the missionaries, and just makes fun of them for going to church or whatever. But the teenage sisters in the family had told me a KPOP band that she likes, so when I met K_ _ _ _ _ for the first time yesterday I started talking to her about Korean Pop and she was just like "Oh my gosh I love you!" We talked for 15 minutes just about all kinds of random stuff, so that's cool. I'm glad I could find a way to be friends with her. :)

Mission life is awesome! I love seeing how the gospel blesses EVERYONE. No matter what they're going through. Or even if they're doing just fine. The gospel makes people's lives infinitely better. It's the best!
~Hermana Nielsen, Happy new year!!
P.S. For anyone feeling inadequate, just remember Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
